Presque Isle Class of 79 Reunion Update - A meet up the night before the class reunion at the Fish and Game Club

Folks,
I’ve reserved the Presque Isle Fish and Game Club for a informal gathering Friday night starting at 6pm (possibly earlier) and ending sometime Saturday morning. If you are heading over to see Diane Barker McClellan and Tom Acousti at the NHSC you are welcome to come over afterward – or before, if the party ends up starting earlier. All classmates, spouses, Sugar-Daddy’s/Momma’s, significant others, or personal nursing assistants are welcome. It is BYOB. It is not required that you bring something edible to share but it would be welcomed if you did. Soft drinks, paper plates, napkins, F/K/S, drink cups, etc. will be there. We’ll have music (not an elaborate sound system – Bose Wave with line-in for iPod or Blackberry). Token door prizes may be awarded about every hour based on random drawing, bribes or both. I’ll have a Bocce ball set and possibly other games.

You will be responsible for any resulting medical attention required unless other of our classmates in the medical profession attend and are willing to help you. If it gets really late and dark and things get really out of hand, maybe we’ll play blind-folded.

Though the club has been reserved for awhile, the particulars are coming together at the last minute. I’m not going to over-engineer this (unusual for me). I look forward to seeing you all and others that are not on the list (all of you have been blind-copied). Please spread the word to others in the class. And, while RSVPs certainly aren’t required, I’d appreciate hearing back from you one way or another (attend or not) simply to know that I made contact.

Otherwise, I’ll assume the email got lost somewhere – bad address or otherwise – and attempt to track you down by phone (maybe).

PIHS 30th Class Reunion - Class of 79 is in one month. Man, it went fast and suddenly school’s out, prom for another year is done and now it’s time to celebrate the Class of 1979 here in Presque Isle July 11, 2009.

Did you get a mailing? Did you update your mailing address? Have you emailed me or another member of the reunion planning committee to let us know you are coming? The committee has done two mailings and payments are due by June 19th.

“About two dozen classmates have sent payments in so far, please don’t forget to mail in ahead of time so we can plan our food accordingly.

Reunion Meeting

We have decided to meet twice a month up to the Reunion

Entertainment
Nancy presented two prices for DJ’s

James Jandreau (498-4277) will be $100 per hour and require a $50 deposit. They have two other guys able to do the work (Craig Jackson and JR Belanger, but Nancy can get James. They require a contract; top of the line system; Bose dock; will play music we submit; 8 different light shows, strobe lights, wireless mikes.

Dave and Sue Ouellette will be $500 as a 5 hr block of time and then $100 each hour after that. (So as with the other DJ $100 per hour) They require a $100 deposit and a signed contract. They have new equipment; light show; will play our music; wireless mikes.

A few other people were going to look into other DJ’s and get prices for the next meeting. (I believe the other DJ’s to look into were Jimmy Steve and Trent Burday) There will be a vote at the next meeting because both DJ’s have penciled in the date of July 11th.

Mailings/Booklets/Postcards

Grady Brown has offered to get the booklet printed and bound for us. We need to send him an electronic version and he will offer us styles to pick from. Thanks Grady!

The mailing list should be finalized by the next meeting. From there we need to create the labels and get the postcards out.

Jill presented a few post cards for the committee to review and the committee voted on one. Lots of questions and prices were discussed on the final product. Jill and Nancy will be brainstorming to present prices and a final sample for approval.

Photographer: Someone needs to get prices for a photographer that has a wide angle lens.

Asking for top twenty favorite songs and with bands if possible, this is the only way we will get to hear the specific songs we want, not just the band. Listen to country rock stations; you’ll get lots of ideas from there.

25 Random things about you
Nancy did bring the material from our last reunion. It was fun to go thru and gave us ideas for banners to put up in town. Kevin will work on this.

Does anyone remember the big mural that was put up at our Prom? We all signed it and it was at our 10th year reunion as well. It will be up at this reunion for everyone to sign on our 30th.

Next meeting will be on 4/16/2009 at 6:30pm at Northeastland.

Classmates Attending: Johnny and Sue Johnston, Todd Hedrich and Nancy Chabot

Todd and Johnny gave the committee a breakdown of choices for a family style served dinner. We have great options to choose from. The cost is approximate and will wait to announce this until the price is firm. Todd and Johnny also informed the committee that we will have access to the both the upstairs dining room and the downstairs dining room. One will be for dinner and the other for ‘the party’.

Member’s mailing list was divided between Johnny, Todd and Nancy. Our task is to call phone numbers listed from 20th reunion, verify mailing, phone and email information with classmate that answers, if no contact is made we will Google classmate and then report our findings and the next meeting.

The committee discussed requesting classmates to complete the “25 Random Things About Me” that is circulating on Facebook and adding it to our printed book of classmate’s info for 2009.

Sue will be checking in the High School Graphics Arts department to see if they can help us put the book together. It was also suggested that if classmates wanted, they could put together a foam board to bring to the reunion with pictures and updates of their lives and families. This would be a great way for everyone to fill fellow classmates in on their lives and families. It was also agreed that it would be nice to have name tags with pictures again at this reunion.

We are still working on getting the reunion minutes posted on the www.pihs79.com website. Classmates continue to ‘meet’ on Facebook, even one who don’t know what Facebook is!

In case anyone is wondering about a Friday night gathering at the PI Snowmobile Club, I am sad to report that it burnt to the ground recently.

We have not had anyone from the entertainment committee show up at the last two meetings. Johnny has committed to call Kelley and check in.

Next meeting will be held Thursday, February 19th at 6pm at the Northeastland.

Presque Isle, Maine - Last night the planning committee met - Kevin Freeman, Todd Hedrich, Nancy Staples Chabot, John and Sue Johnston and me (of course!) got together to discuss the feedback we have gotten locally and online.  The official vote was made for the Class of 79 will party together on July 11, 2009 at the Northeastland Hotel.  Make your reservations.  Request your time off.  Start hunting down old friends so when we meet up in July ~ we will be ready to make this the best class reunion we can create.  I will be posting actual minutes as soon as I receive them from Nancy Staples.

Start looking for pictures to put up here and for the reunion - we’ve got some cool plans for pictures - they can be scanned and sent email so if you want any of your pictures here - just email me!

I’m waiting for a yearbook to scan the pics to my computer but as soon as I have pictures - we can get them posted.

Presque Isle High School Class Reunion - Class of ‘79 To keep the local, die hard reunion planners making all the decisions… I thought of something we could all do while we are waiting for the results of our meeting this week - to know the time and place of our class reunion.  I thought we could do something about the music.  With the DJ and slideshow, - we can all have something to say about songs you want played at our class reunion.  Go ahead - post a list, your top 5, 10, whatever songs you think would make our class reunion cool, very 1979 - .  We all have different memories and songs that take us back there - dish them out here and I will compile a list of songs from the class to be pulled together for the reunion party.
